InCharacter is not open yet. The only thing we collect right now is the email address you choose to give the waitlist. This page explains what happens to it, why, and how to get it back or removed. We've kept it short because there isn't much to say — and that's the point.

## Who is responsible

**InCharacter** is the data controller for the information described here. For anything in this policy — a question, a request, a correction — write to [privacy@incharacter.app](mailto:privacy@incharacter.app).

## What we collect

- **Your email address**, when you submit it to the waitlist form.
- **A language preference cookie** ( `i18n_redirected`), set only to remember which language to show you. It is functional, not tracking.

We do not run third-party analytics or advertising trackers on this site, and we do not ask for your name or any other detail.

## Why we use it, and our legal basis

We use your email for one purpose: to write to you once, when you can build your first character. Our legal basis is your **consent** (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), given when you submit the form. You can withdraw it at any time — see _Your rights_ below — and withdrawing is as easy as giving it.

## Who can see it

Your address is stored with the infrastructure providers we use to run the site and send that one email — hosting, database, and email delivery — acting as processors on our instructions under data-processing agreements. We do not sell, rent, or share your address with anyone for their own purposes.

## How long we keep it

Until we've launched and written to you, or until you ask us to remove it — whichever comes first. If the project is wound down, the waitlist is deleted. You never have to wait for a retention timer to lapse; just ask and it's gone.

## Where it is processed

We aim to keep processing within the EU/EEA. Where a provider processes data outside it, that transfer is covered by an adequacy decision or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

## Your rights

Under the GDPR you can, at any time:

- ask for a copy of the data we hold about you (access);
- have it corrected (rectification);
- have it deleted (erasure);
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- receive it in a portable format (portability);
- withdraw your consent, which removes you from the waitlist.

To exercise any of these, write to [privacy@incharacter.app](mailto:privacy@incharacter.app). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — for us that is the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY, imy.se).

## Changes to this policy

If this changes before launch, we'll update the date at the top. Since the only contact we have is your waitlist address, material changes that affect it will be explained in the one email we send.
